Prof. ZHANG Luoying from the School of Life Science and Technology of Huazhong University of Science and Technology led everyone to review the research process of the first human natural short sleep gene hDEC2-P384R. She vividly reproduced the whole process from the discovery of genetic mutations, the establishment of mouse animal models, the study of the mechanism of sleep variation caused by genetic mutations, and told the interesting stories behind the research. This forum gave everyone a better understanding of sleep regulation at the genetic and molecular level, and also learned that China has a wealth of sleep-related genetic resources to be developed.
