An ION Council was held on December 5 in Shanghai. Council members, including Profs. Jian-Guo Hou (University of Science and Technology of China), Qi-Shui Lin (Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, CAS), Gang Pei (Tong Ji University), Mu-Ming Poo (Institute of Neuroscience, CAS), Xian-En Zhang (The Ministry of Science and Technology of China), Zhi-Bing Zhang (Institute of Zoology, CAS) and Zuo-Yan Zhu (Institute of Hydrobiology, CAS), attended the meeting. Mr. Jian-Xin Zhang (SIBS), Mrs. Li-Ping Wang (Bureau of Life Science and Biotechnology, CAS) and Mrs. Feng Zhang (Bureau of Planning and Finance, CAS) also attended this meeting.

After listening to reports by the ION Director, and Directors of State Key Laboratory of Neuroscience (SKLN) and Center for Brain Disorder (CBD), council members gave recommendations for the future development of ION, SKLN and CBD.

Drs. Zhen-Ge Luo, Xiao-Bing Yuan, Zuo-Ren Wang and Zhi-Qi Xiong presented recent research progress of the four ION divisions. Their presentations were followed by thoughtful comments and discussions from Council members.
